When the Kuntanase Traditional Authority embraced the idea to set up a Rural Bank, a publication was made to the inhabitants in the Kuntanase and its surrounding towns and villages. As a result, a series of town meetings were held to solicit support in raising the minimum capital of Six Hundred and Fifty Thousand as required by the Central Bank at the time. This preparatory work started in the year 1981.

To avoid individual dominance in the ownership of Rural Banks, it was part of the Central Bank policy that an individual could not own shares in a particular Rural bank worth more than One Hundred Cedis, equivalent to one pesewa today. This policy poses difficulty to the promoters in raising the minimum capital since more subscribers to the shares are required. In their undying quest to raise the capital, the Kuntanase community, led by their chief Nana Adu Gyamfi Poku II, devised a strategy in the form of outreach to attract more subscribers. A social group in Kuntanase called Kuntanase Development Association (KUNDA) commenced the outreach work in Accra, and their efforts targeted natives of Kuntanase living in Accra.
